At 325 dpi and 1 million pixels (1280×720) this 5″ Samurai Blade Superatom IPS Panel delivers amazing resolution, super accurate colours and super deep blacks. The Atomos Samurai Blade is a 10-bit recorder for HD-SDI Cameras. The capacitive touch panel gives quick response times and gesture capability (think iPhone swipes). Controlling AtomOS 5.0 on the Samurai Blade is much like navigating through your Apple iPhone or iPad now especially with the new UI that Jeromy shows us in this video.

Fully adjustable gamma, brightness, contrast and a built in wave form monitor gears this video tool in the direction of professionals. The Atomos Samurai Blade is a production recorder, monitor and playback deck. Each part of its physical and operational design is crafted to intentionally deliver simple operation, mission critical reliability and the converging of separate devices – Monitors, Capture Cards, Playback decks and cut edit suites.

The Atomos Samurai Blade records direct to edit codecs Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD for free onto commodity 2.5” hard discs at the camera. This could save you in media costs, time for capturing and, of course, will lend to a higher quality than any MPEG based camera. The in-monitor cut editing with in and out points makes for faster editing workflows. You can also tag within the video. All tags and in and out points will show up on the Final Cut X XL project files. This feature is Premiere or FCPX compatible where your metadata from the Samurai Blade can be accessed in post.
*The expected ship date for the Atomos Samurai Blade is end of May, beginning of June of 2013.
